About the Arizona Region
Then and Now
Humble Beginnings
SCBWI AZ has been serving Arizona since 1988. In 1990, Dawn Dixon, Regional Advisor Emeritus, and G. Brian Karas, award-winning author/illustrator,Humble Beginnings
became the chapter's first Regional Advisors. The chapter had 56 members. Since then, SCBWI AZ has grown into a very active region with its current membership of over 400 members statewide.

SCBWI AZ is proud to serve its members by providing opportunities for writers and illustrators to learn and develop their craft and become educated about the business of writing and illustrating for the children's book, magazine, and media market.

The SCBWI Message Center on the new SCBWI Website is a free, easy to use message service for SCBWI members 18 years or older. Members can send and receive individual messages to other members. Just log into your member page and click Messages on the left tool bar.

SCBWI AZ Members from Yuma to Lake Havasu City, Tombstone to the Grand Canyon, Tucson, to Phoenix, Scottsdale, Prescott, Flagstaff, Sedona, Payson and other places in between can receive and send messages among all the members in the Arizona region via the SCBWI AZ MEMBER LISTSERV. This is a moderated service where members can discuss the business and craft of writing and illustrating for the children's and YA marketplace.
